This should cost at least 3 times as much

I just recently replaced this device only because my new board has a built in monitoring section, dual headphone outs and talkback features on it. For the price you won't find anything better than this. It includes everything you need for monitoring without having to drop 3 bills on a Big Knob. They're definitely better but should cost 80% less compared to this. I've had mine for 2 years before I upgraded to my Alesis Master Control a few months ago. If I didn't upgrade I'd still be using the Mon800. In fact, I still have it plugged in (to the wall) and I have no idea why. It's always been reliable. The headphone outs are clean and sending mixes to different pairs of monitors make this a steal.
A compact device with many uses

Like others, I'm using this as part of a small home recording setup. In my case, mics and sources connect to a Behringer UBB1002 mixer which feeds a Creative E-MU 0404 USB audio interface. The MON800 inputs are connected to both the mixer and the audio interface so that I can quickly switch from monitoring the live mix to monitoring playback from the audio interface. Outputs of the MON800 feed a couple of pairs of headphones and a pair of Behringer B2031A powered monitors.

The MON800 is dead silent in this setup unless I turn the output levels past three o'clock (very high), and the frequency response seems to be flat across the useful range of listening levels (measured using True Audio RTA). I have used the talk-back feature to coordinate second part recording with a musician in another room. Works great. Crazy functionality for such a low price!

My only gripe is that with lots of cables connected, the device is physically a little unstable. The front lifts off of the table, making it easy to slide around if you're not careful. I may try some large self-adhesive rubber feet on the back to make it grip a bit better. I would not mind paying up to double the price for balanced in's and out's (to support longer cable runs), but for what it is, it works great for me.
A solid solution for desktop recording

I replaced a Mackie 1202 with this unit when I went to all software instruments for recording. Plenty of ins and outs, and I can discern no difference in sound quality or noise level. I run a pair of big powered monitors out of it as well as headphones. Behringer gives great value and quality especially for prosumer level recording. Have used for a year now with zero problems.
Works great.

I bought this for my home recording studio to listen from several different speaker types to get the mix. It works as it should. For the price, it can't be beat.
A must have in your home studio

I was searching for a way to go back and forth between the monitors and the headphones for recording and all saw was $100-$500 devices that were way overkill.

This device does that perfectly. There is no added noise, it's convenient, small and very inexpensive.

My setup:
2x Mics, guitars -> Behringer Xenyx 802 -> PC with EMU 1212m

Emu 1212m -> MON800 -> Behringer B2031A monitors
-> Headphones

Perfect.

Product Description

The DJM-700's high quality construction follows the same cues as its DJM-1000/DJM-800 predecessors by utilizing a high-rigidity chassis that minimizes noise from unnecessary vibration as well as a dual shield structure to eliminate entry of digital noise and full balanced output circuitry. Internally, the DJM-700 sound quality is re-enforced with a high quality 96kHz / 24-bit digital sampling system. Analog signals from the player pass through the mixer at the shortest signal route, digitized by 96kHz / 24-bit high quality sound A/D converter and reaches the digital mixing stage with the best possible state. The mixing is carried out by a 32-bit DSP with ideal filtering to produce the best sound for DJ playing without deteriorating the sound quality. World s First Effect Frequency Filter: The Pioneer DJM-700 is the world s first mixer to include an Effect Frequency Filter that allows the user to limit the frequency bands subjected to effects. Conventional effectors are limited to manipulating the entire frequency range, whereas the Effect Frequency Filter now expands the user s ability to showcase their own mixing style.

Product Details

  • 4 Channel 24 bit/96 kHz, Digital Mixer delivers the sound quality and features that every top performer desires.
  • All the Pioneer features plus the world's first effect frequency filter as well as manual filter capabilities.
