BAD NEWS
Bad news: The software is old and outdated. It will not work propperly with anything other than windows xp. I called to see if there was an update (there wasn't). I was told I could buy the main software (the one for real D.J.s) for 0. It was also meant to work with vista (not very well I am afraid)and don't even think to try it on windows 7.
The good news is the M-audio pad is universal and will work with any software. You just have to find it.

Controller fine. Torq le buggy
The x-session does what it says. The enclosed le software however is crunchy in sound, particularly when mixing. Eqs are too sharp, and there are mysterious midi jumps from one command to another. I was in mid mix when suddenly my filter started. I may have bumped it though. Waveform is crowded compared to other software. You get what you pay for. Oh and torq le would freeze momentarily, yet keep playing whenever I loaded a track, then resume it's playing. Not a full crash mind you but worrisome. Very disturbing. Btw all wifi and virus software was off.

Excellent MIDI controller
Excellent MIDI controller that can be configured to do everything needed for your basic mix. Only thing is that there are not any buttons to be used like platter controls to cue through music. Plenty of knobs and buttons to get creative with assignments in what ever DJ program you are using. Torq LE is pretty basic and you might want to check out some other programs out there. I use virtual DJ and it works great.

Great Choice For The Beginner DJ
This is a great product for the beginning DJ that's either low on cash or just wants to give DJ'ing a try before spending a lot on more expensive equipment. The console is surprisingly light, a lot lighter than I was expecting. A huge plus is it works right out of the box with the Mixxx software package on Linux, which could again potentially be a cost saver for those that are low on cash. Only downside is it doesn't have a headphone audio output, but that can easily be solved with a USB sound adapter (probably will run you anywhere from 9-15 bucks for a simple one). Overall, I think it was a great buy. Just keep your expectations modest, and have fun!

ran fine on mac... windows problems...
So, I needed a USB controller for an event that I was playing at. Now I'm no expert, heck this was my official first event. Now I ended up going to the event with my Macbook rather then my PC (i don't need to be portable, I need a newer laptop since my macbook is a bit slow...) and it ran flawlessly, i figured most things out on my own and the event besides the fact that i was limited by the macbook on hardware (hard drive space) went smoothly. Now running on my macbook the entire time i saw the cursor with the load sign, the colorful circle thing. it would lag loading my music, and the library system was a bit confusing but i figure the lag made it fustrating, now this could be due to poorly written software or my hardware. i figure it's mainly my hardware.

now originally i had this plugged in to my PC running win7 and it ran flawlessly. Now I had to reboot for some other reason and that's when things went south. my event was 6 hrs away and the software stopped working. no audio signal what so ever, now itunes, wmp, vlc, firefox, windows itself, all the sounds worked. drivers are updated, everything is updated. and it was working fine, i uninstalled and rebooted, reinstalled. same thing. since i have no idea why it stopped working (and restore doesn't work for some odd reason the computer can't restore to the previous state) i'm stuck with this. it worked great with my macbook but i bought it for my pc and now... it's just a flat disappointment.

it does as advertised, can i recommend it? hmmm... yes, because it's a great deal and when the software works things go smoothly and it's supposed to be compatiable with other stuff (which i tried but i just didn't have enough time to get it all figured out, again i'm new to this)

oh yeah i used the splitter that it came with (since i don't have dual audio out) and one end i used my headphones, and the other i put a three way splitter and plugged in 3 speaker systems. worked like a charm.

amazon did a great job with shipping and handling, i ordered on dec 29th and got it 31st wit the 2 day shipping... jus like advertised.

With this mixlab system mixing two songs has never been easier, you can control the pitch and speed independently, making it so much easier for users. Other features such as the automatic beat-detection and synchronization, 3-band EQ, full-featured mixer, headphone cueing and a crossfader are more than just reasons to appreciate this unit.
